Self-Taught Artist: A Journey Back to Art
I often get asked, “Where did you learn your process?” The truth is - I taught myself. Growing up in the serene landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales, my childhood was filled with the joy of drawing. However, this passion took a backseat while I pursued a marketing degree at university. Yet, the call of art was too strong to ignore, and I found my way back to my true calling, embarking on a journey to become a professional artist.
Early Inspirations in the Yorkshire Dales
My early years in the Yorkshire Dales were marked by an inherent love for nature and wildlife. Surrounded by rolling hills, quaint villages, and vibrant wildlife, I found endless inspiration in my surroundings. The beauty of the Dales stayed with me, even as I ventured into the world of marketing. It was always there, quietly calling me back.
A New Beginning in Hawes
In 2016, with a heart full of dreams and hands eager to create, I opened my first art gallery in my beloved hometown of Hawes. This was a monumental step in my artistic journey, marking the beginning of a new chapter. The gallery became a space where I could share my love for the Yorkshire Dales with others, turning my passion into a profession.
Family and Artistic Evolution
Over the years, my journey has been enriched by the joys of family life. I am now blessed with two beautiful children and a supportive husband who inspire me every day. As my life evolved, so did my art. My drawing style transformed, weaving heartfelt narratives of family and nature into each piece. This evolution brought a deeper sense of purpose and meaning to my work.
